Fashion Fixed Fest

Updated: Jun 19

And in a blink it is all over... The Fashion Fixed Fest was an absolute success and more than everything we thought it would be! The event was to showcase sustainability in Lincoln and climate while getting the local community involved. Bringing together people from all walks including artists, designers, sellers, musicians and enthusiasts. All in one day and night at The Engine Shed.

We started the day with a variety of stalls and workshops catered towards all age groups. From badge making to a styling booth, it was filled with excitement. Then we shut The Engine Shed doors and reopened in the evening for The Ultimate Guilt Free Party, and that it was! There are so many thanks to be given across the entire event including the attendees, those who attended the teaching sessions, all The Engine Shed staff and tech, Sam Harrison for the evening and so, so many more.

Stalls and Workshops

We had a range of stalls and workshops on the day, each were carefully selected to align with our message for the day; supporting local, sustainable and up cycled. From engraving second hand mirrors to hand made crochet, we welcomed as many creatives as possible from the surrounding area. The Engine Shed was transformed into a market place and we had people trickling in and out all day.

"We like to repurpose and reuse these things because why buy new when there's better stuff than can be repurposed" - Mellow Pokes

The Clothes Swap

As always the clothes swap was a major success and we we're happy to host Zoe and her team from The Big Swap on the day, as well as some volunteers too! Founder and Creative Director, Zoe, is determined to unite people, challenge the status quo and create a fashion future that's inclusive for everyone. Here is what she had to say on the day:

"[There is] such a community vibe. It's really nice to see everything come to fruition and I just think the energy with such a diverse group of people as well is just brilliant."

The Fashion Shows

We got people in the room to model clothes from people in the room. And it was such a positive mood booster with no expectations, just a bit of fun. We had such a range of clothing and bags that everyone was wearing something different to their everyday clothes. It even led to some items being purchased after being shown on the shows!

"It's made me feel really positive because it's so nice being in a community of people that have the same passions and cares that I do." - Student from University of Lincoln

"We've created something that goes beyond typical sustainability events. It isn't about guilt or sacrifice - it's about showcasing the incredible innovation happening right here in Lincolnshire when people approach consumption and creativity differently. - Kerry Gibson, project founder.

This event served multiple purposes beyond entertainment and spreading awareness around sustainability. It brought together the local community to support local people. We even took it one step further and accepted donations to support local food banks during the day. Then in the evening, we took a percentage of each t-shirt sold to donate to them too. We feel like this demonstrates how through practical community level action, we can make sustainable frameworks.

Into the night

Then the evening hosted a new vibe spotlighting Lincolnshire's homegrown talent on the biggest music stage in Lincolnshire. It was all curated by Sam Harrison, one of Lincoln's very own music artist.
